I had some time this weekend and managed to finish up a few user requests, and would like to share them:
1) Individual Portfolio in Daily Market Update Emails
Now you can opt to view the performance of each portfolio you own by simply going to
this page and checking the "Individual Portfolio - Information about each portfolio you own" box. You will see the performance of your individual portfolios included in your next market update email.
Note: The default is set to unchecked, so you will need to check it to opt in.
2) New Portfolio Profile Page
Added a new
Portfolio Profile page which allows you to see various metrics of stocks in your portfolio and watchlist conveniently.
Friends of SGXcafe will also be able to customize it and select which metrics they want displayed.
3) Simpler and Better Charts
On each individual stock page, you can now choose the period (e.g. 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, etc) to display for both the basic and technical charts. The technical charts (e.g.
DBS) have also been revamped to be simpler and easier to read.
One last thing is that for the last few days, I have been running some heavy background computation on SGXcafe's server in preparation for an upcoming feature (i.e. ability to backtest on
Screener) hence it is likely that SGXcafe might respond slightly slower than usual. It is expected to be completed within the next 2-3 days. Thank you for your patience!
That's all for now. Back to coding.

The idea is simple: you will be given facts of an anonymous stock on a historical date. Based on the information, you will choose whether to invest or ignore that stock. Once you have made the decision, SGXcafe ...
My BeatTheMarket Strategy
BeatTheMarket is a mini-game that I built in SGXcafe. The idea is simple: you will be given facts of an anonymous stock on a historical date. Based on the information, you will choose whether to invest or ignore that stock. Once you've decided, SGXcafe will immediately tell you on the next screen if that stock beat the index one year later. If you have not tried it, I encourage you to try it now :) ...
How diversified are you?
As the idiom goes, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". It is common knowledge that diversification is very important when it comes to investing. However, the questions are: How to diversify? How diversified are you? How do you measure diversification? Google "How to diversify" and there are countless articles out there "teaching" people how to diversify. In my opinion, many articles are either ...
